STAR WARS: a NEW ENEMY

Along time ago in a galaxy far, far away there was:
                          STAR WARS

Although the empire has been destroyed and the New Republic had been
left in peace for about a year people still lived in fear and the
rebels were on full alert. No one really knew what was going on but
one thing was for sure; it wasn't pretty. People had disappeared
out of nowhere without a trace, some say it was aliens, others say
that the case had much more to it. Only one thing was sure about all
of this; there was something mysterious going on out there...

                CHAPTER 1

Stephanie and Shawn sat beneath the jungle trees in front of the temple,
both feeling somewhat strange and insecure. Artoo rolled out of the
temple with the sun blazing off his dome shaped head, he went over to
where they sat and beeped at them questionably. Shawn looked over at
his sister, "Did you get all that?" he asked with an amused look.
"Yeah, he told us to get a life," she said dismally. "What's wrong with
you?" he asked. "Other than the awkward feeling; my life." Shawn sighed
"I hope she's not getting cranky ," he thought. Stephanie gave him
a peeved look, "Shawn, I'm telepathic, and I'm not getting cranky!"
Shawn turned away uncomfortably and scratched the back of his neck,
"I was just kidding... in my head," Shawn lied. Stephanie rolled her eyes,
and Shawn cleared his throat, "Come on, maybe dad knows something."

Shawn trotted down the dusty clearing to the Jedi academy with his sister
jogging right behind him, they both stopped when they saw their dad
walking over to the docking pad. "Dad!" Shawn yelled as they started
walking past the academy. Luke Skywalker turned away from the near-by
ship and looked down from the docking pad, his sandy-blond hair flied
around his head because of the wind from an incoming ship. He stood back
and looked at the twins with curious eyes, "What was wrong?" he thought,
"Did they feel the disturbance too?" "Something's wrong, I felt something
strange, do you know what it is?" Shawn asked. "No, but I felt it as well
and I think that it would be best to notify the New Republic counsel. It
concerns them as well." "Great, now what are we going to do?" Stephanie
asked. "I'll get Toonie to watch over the academy and prepare for danger,
you two and your cousins will come with me to Coriscant." "It's that
serious?" Shawn asked dismally. Luke nodded and led them to the edge of
the docking pad, "Your uncle should be here soon." Stephanie and Shawn
grew frightened as they stared up in the air wondering what would become
of everything.

                      CHAPTER 2

The millennium falcon came down ten minutes later and Shawn
could see his cousins rushing up to join him. The group came forward
to meet Han who was just coming out of his beloved ship, he gave his
children a brief hug then hugged his nephew and niece. Luke and Han
clasped hands in a short hand shake and then followed Chewie into the
cockpit. The teens came in and sat down at the table in the middle of

the ship, "Do any of you have a clue to what's going on?" Shawn asked.
They shook their heads, "They don't want to tell us anything," Stephanie
said gesturing toward the cockpit. "They just don't want us to be scared,"
Jaina said. "It's a bit too late for that," she answered. Shawn nodded
vigorously, and Jacen sighed. "Fear never gets you anywhere, it just

clouds your mind, you guys should know that," Jaina said. "I don't
want to discuss this to a committee," Stephanie said as she walked away.
"We're not a committee!" Jaina called after her. Jacen looked across the
room, "Guys, quit it with the fighting all ready." He got up and
walked after his cousin leaving the other two behind. Jacen sat down
by Stephanie who was staring out of the window at the stars. "Steph,
I don't want to hurt you but Jaina is right, if you let fear come over
you, you won't be able to do much of anything." "It's not about the
fear speech back there," she said turning toward him. "It's about
everything, the strange feeling, the arguing, and the bad days I've
had before all of this." Jacen sighed, he was never very good at pep
talks he thought for a few minutes and then gave her a lopsided grin.
"You want to hear a joke?" he asked. Stephanie rolled her eyes, "Shoot."

"All right, How do you know if you’re obsessed with Endor?" Stephanie
shrugged. "When you walk into the forest and wonder where the Ewoks
are," he answered with a grin. Stephanie gave him an amused look then
stared out the window again, "Thanks for trying Jacen, but I think I
need to be alone for a while." Jacen nodded and stepped out of the room,
Jaina and Shawn looked at him, "Jacen, I feel a little sorry for her to,
but you have to admit that she brings all of this misery on herself,"
Shawn said. Jaina nodded, "He's right Jacen." Jacen sat down next to them
and brushed his tousled brown hair out of his face, "Maybe she does bring
this on herself, but making her mad isn't going to help her one bit."
The young Jedi strapped themselves in, now that Han Solo was done making
the modifications to the Millenium Falcon it was time to lift off. Luke
stepped out of the cockpit and sat down next to them, "Where is Stephanie?"
he asked. Jaina pointed toward the window on the far side of the ship,
"She felt like being alone for a while," Jacen explained. Luke looked
curiously at his daughter and reached out to her with the force, he didn't
sense much anger in her but a lot of depression. He sighed and decided to
leave her alone for a while, or at least until they got into orbit.

"I think you should leave her be for a while, there are some feelings that
people have to get through by themselves." Shawn and Jaina looked at Jacen,
eyebrows up each with mocking eyes, "Hey, at least I didn't make her mad,"
he said defensively. Luke looked back at the three young Jedi, each of them
gave him an embarrassed smile and tried to cover it up with a shrug. Luke
shook his head, "If someone is going through these types of emotions give
them some compassion and never use anger as a weapon. This is what I've
been teaching you for almost all of your training." "I haven't been

on Yavin four very long, it's only been about 6 months," Shawn said.
Luke looked at him wisely, "Son, a Jedi never uses excuses, you know
that I have talked to you about this before," Luke told him through
the force. Shawn sighed and leaned back against the chair, "I want
all of you to keep this in mind from now on," Luke said. "Sorry Uncle
Luke," Jaina said. Luke gave her a small smile, "Don't tell me that,
tell her." Jaina followed the same suit as Shawn and watched her
uncle step back into the cockpit. Jacen let a brief sigh escape his
lips as he looked over to where his cousin was, "I'm sure it will
be all right once we get to Coriscant," he said. The two young Jedi
gave him unsure looks but decided not to discuss it, their destiny
would soon come.

                        CHAPTER 3

In the Caliro system the Animeas brang more humans and aliens into
their superior's chamber, "More victoms my  Czar," the guard said
putting a fist over his chest. The czar motioned to the lieutenant
and she took the wookie from the guards hands, the Wookie roared
and bellowed but the woman didn't let go. "Captain  Patros," She said
nodding at the chair in front of them. Captain Patros turned the chair
and clasped the wookie in, the wookie warrior struggled in the straps;
unable to get free. The lieutenant put her fingers on the wookie's head
and used the force to calm the wookie male; being the only human Jedi
she did everything that the Animeas couldn't and visa-versa.

"Now commander," she said. The female Animea took a solution and spread
it across a small needle, she gave it to the captain and he jabbed it
just below the neck of the wookie.
The wookie dropped to the floor and the guards pulled him to the
base's resting quarters. "Are you sure that he will be on our side?"
the czar asked. "Positively my czar," the lieutenant answered. "Excellent
work Lieutenant Skywalker, now get to the others," he said walking out to
the bridge. She nodded to the guards and watched as another batch
of screaming humans and aliens. Again and again they repeated the task
at hand until every alien and human they had caught had been brain
washed. Afterwards the group got herded into a huge room where
they pledged their allegiance to the second Imperium, or the new Empire.

The Millenium Falcon soon landed in port three by the Imperial Palace
in Coriscant, the passengers slowly came out, Stephanie being the last
of them.  Outside the ship stood the palace guards and the Rebel
council, ready to talk. Han and Leia greeted them and lead them to the
meeting room "Welcome home," said the door guard politely. Leia nodded
as if to thank him then carried on with the explanation for their
meeting. Luke walked and started being part of the conversation while
the teens walked after them in a clumped group, Jaina and Jacen tried
to help explain any way they could although they couldn't
say much. "Although we have no real evidence of this bad force we are
very sure that we must react, these people or aliens are very strong
and hostile." Leia said. "What is their purpose?" Admiral Veact asked.
"We're not sure of there purpose, but we are sure that they pose a
threat," Luke said softly. "Is there any information about this force
you felt?" "We can tell you one thing Admiral, if we underestimate them
they’re going to beat the heck out of us," Han said. Leia gave him an
irritated look, "Figures he would say something like that," she thought.

Han caught her look then decided to keep quiet, even after years of
being at New Republic meetings he never got the hang of how to act
proper. He walked back to the teens behind them and started talking to
them instead, Jaina and Jacen gave him amused looks. "At least someone
has a sense of humor," he thought smiling. He put his arms around their
shoulders as they walked, "So what's going on with you two haven't seen
you since the last adventure." Jacen gave him a lopsided grin, "Oh we've
just been wrestling with monster trees, saved the galaxy a couple of
times, executed an old TIE fighter pilot, blew up a space station, and
nearly got ourselves killed. How about you?" Han gave him a bewildered
look and put a protective grip on their shoulders. Jaina laughed, "He

exaggerates, all we really did was save Stephanie and Shawn from the
forest." "How was that for a sense of humor?" Jacen asked with a
mischievous twinkle in his eye. "I'm beginning to wish that you two weren't
telepathic," Han said. They laughed and helped Shawn and Stephanie as
well as themselves feel more at ease. Still all of them could feel a
dark feeling in Stephanie; a feeling mixed between misery, depression, anger,
and uneasiness that was not caused by the drama but rather something
else inside. Jacen was never one to give up easy when it came to jokes,
"Hey Steph," he attempted," What do you tell an imperial men in his
underwear?" Stephanie shot him a surprised look then shrugged when she
realized that it was another one of his jokes. "Your lack of pants
disturbs me," he said with an attempt on a deep voice. The others behind
him started to crack up but Stephanie kept a strait face although she
did think that it was amusing. Jacen was about to tell another joke
but a tug at the shirt made him stop, "She's not in a laughing mood
Jac, leave her alone for a while," Jaina said. "How can she possibly
be so serious all the time?" Jacen thought. Reluctantly he let it go
and walked behind the younger twins.

                         CHAPTER 4

Finally they made it past the Imperial Palace and into Alliance
headquarters, the New Republic counsel and Luke and Leia rushed
through the crowd of Republic workers leaving
the others back a bit. "Is there any information that you haven't told
us?" "We have little bits of information that we haven't been able to
understand, I've felt a strange presence among them, I have also felt
many aliens and humans suffering but I can't understand why," Luke
answered. "They seem to be somewhere near the alfo system but I'm not
sure about their exact location. The admiral nodded, "All right, we
will find out what we can and we'll discuss the data, commander."
"Yes, sir."  "Thank you Admiral," Leia said as he kissed her hand. He
bowed to the rest of the group and walked back to his quarters to give
his solders their instructions. "Now what?" asked Stephanie. "You kids
will go back to the Imperial Palace and we will see what we can do
here," Leia answered. Stephanie was about to object but Luke stopped
her and took her outside the building. Her eyes followed the speeders
and ships as they raced around the city, Luke put him hands on her
shoulders, " Stephanie, we need you to go back to the Palace. I know
you don't want to, but you can't really help us now, we're just going
to do some planing and talking." Stephanie sighed, "I was just going to
suggest that we help by doing some research." Luke's grip loosened on her
shoulders, "I know, but there are some things that the Republic and
staff have to do by themselves. You will be safer in the palace."

Jacen and the rest of the teens came trailing out of the building, Luke
gave his daughter a small smile, "Your destiny belongs to the different
parts of your mind, and can be altered with attitude." Luke left
Stephanie confused, she waved slightly then turned away, "Ok, whatever,"
she muttered under her breath. She shortly joined the group and walked
with them down to near the Imperial Palace.

The square Animea ship flew by the stars with the speed of light, coming
closer to the system that they would soon have brain-washed. The evil
plot had all of the Animeas excited and prepared for anything, soon they
would attack and they would have all the slaves and "pets" they wanted
in addition to the enslaved minds that were all ready on the ship.

The Czar strolled right and left in his throne room thinking about all
the attacks they would conjure up to erase the minds of these primitive
aliens and humans. He looked over at Lieutenant Skywalker, the girl he
had taken from her planet Shati; he had made an exemption for her for she
was much to special to be treated as a mer slave, far too helpful. His
dismissive gaze shifted from slave to slave and then back at the Lieutenant,
"Gariel, “I wish to discuss something with you." She turned to him
lifelessly, "Of course, my Czar." She came up to the thrown slowly and
then sat obediently, "Have you felt any danger to us, Gariel?" he asked.
"I have only felt the hostility of the slaves Czar, but I am sure that
they will adjust to their surroundings rather quickly." The Czar nodded
slowly then glanced over to the prisoners and slaves, "Do you feel any
hatred in them now?" Gariel nodded, " Some of the new prisoners have those
feelings my Czar." "Have them brainwashed lieutenant, I do not tolerate any
trouble with prisoners," he said coldly. "Yes my Czar," Gariel said, bowing
deeply. Gariel started to walk away but the Czar grabbed her arm, "One
more thing, tell the Admiral that we are to began our preparation for the
up coming battle with Coriscant." She nodded respectfully then let
the Commander escort her to her quarters, as she stepped inside he
walked back to the bridge. Gariel stood motionless as a strange
feeling swept over her, a feeling of despair and confusion. What
the feeling was caused by she did not know, all she knew is that
something was very wrong; she could feel it.

                                        CHAPTER 5

On Coriscant the group of teens walked back through the streets
heading for the Palace. Stephanie was still unhappy about the adults
sending them off, it would have been her one great action in her
lifetime. Who knows what could have happened while they were on the case.
She looked down at the streets and side walks below her and heaved a big
sigh. Shawn turned to look at her then gave her a sly smile, "You know,
even though we can't help them we can still search the city," he said mischievously.

Stephanie fixed him with a sarcastic gaze, "Since when did you become
Mr. mischief?" "Come on Steph, We've never been to a city like this,
aren't you a little interested at least?" She shrugged. "Can you think
of anything better to do?" He asked with his arms folded. She sighed
again then looked up at him with a mischievous glint in her eye that
seemed to be missing for a long time. Shawn smiled, "looks like she
is starting to become normal again," he thought. As Jacen and Jaina
quickened their pace Stephanie followed her brother into the streets.
"About time we got some action," she said to herself. The two wandered
into a big alley then climbed over the huge wall to find themselves in
a big street full of tall buildings and busy people. As they walked down
the streets ships zoomed by making their eyes widen at the activity.
A salesman ran toward them, "Hello kids, I'm a worker at the nearest
ice cream shop and we're giving free samples, I don't believe I've seen
you before," She said as she gave them some ice cream. "We're not from
around here," Shawn answered. Stephanie gave him a warning look, and
he just dismissed it. "Well, I hope you have a good time in the city, bye."
They waved as she went down the street. Stephanie gave him a slap on the
shoulder, "You can't talk to strangers like that! God, you've probably
never gotten away with anything in your life by the way you try!"

"What?" He asked. "Shawn, if you’re going to do something your not supposed
to you have to keep a low profile. Besides that, you don't tell strangers
any info on where or where you don't live!" Shawn gave her a sarcastic
glance, "I thought you were going to be mischievous, not paranoid!"
"And I thought you weren't mischievous at all! Obviously you've never
done this before, just leave it to me," She said with an irritated
look. Shawn sighed, "Just forget it, we'll end up arguing again and
it will end up the same way." Stephanie reluctantly calmed down,
she seemed to enjoy arguing although her brother could never understand
why. Shawn slowly glanced around suspiciously and then found his sister
far ahead of him, "Come on," She called.  The two quickly entered a gray,
tall house that looked abandoned or at least not taken care of.

With a pounding heart Shawn slipped through the hallways after his sister,
"I have a bad feeling about this," he said softly. His sister turned to
look at him sarcastically, "What’s wrong, scared?" she said slyly. Shawn
felt his anger start to boil but quietly used the force to calm himself.
He then looked up to see her walking ahead. "Wait up," he called as he
got himself back to reality. Stephanie slowed a bit as he rushed to her
side. Shawn turned his head and squinted to see in the dark room, "If
only I had a lightsaber," he said with a groan. Stephanie reached out and

felt the presence of two young children in the dark corner, "Come
on out, we won't hurt you." Shawn glanced at her and then stepped
into the room, "Please show yourselves, nothing is going to happen
to you. I swear it as a Jedi knight." Stephanie gave him an impatient
look, "How the heck is that supposed to work?" she whispered dismally.

He shrugged, "You never know." Shawn turned back to the edge of
the dark room, "Please, we can help you." With that the two young
Jedi knights stood back and watched as a shy-looking figure came
slowly out of the blanket of darkness.

                                       CHAPTER 6

On the Animea ship Gariel slept on her small mattress with the strang
feeling still stuck in her head. All of a sudden another wave of feelings
washed over her, she sat up straight, her eyes wide with amazement.
"Luke!" she whispered under her breath. She took a quick breath as
memory started to come back to her in images. "The Czar captured me,
erased my memory!"

The words came out with more horror showing on her face. She looked
over to the door way knowing that she had to get out of here somehow.
She crept closer and started to listen to a conversation; "The Czar
is preparing the men for attack, sir. We will reach Corascant in a few
hours, and the attack is scheduled for the early morning." "Thank you,
Lieutenant." As their footsteps began to fade away Gariel let out a deep
breath and collected her thoughts. Slowly she got her mind uncluttered
from the brainwashing and immediately send a warning to Luke Skywalker;
the only one who she could rely on, for the planet and perhaps her own life.

Down below the alien ship, in the New Republic headquarters
Luke Skywalker and his friends followed the stiff figure of the admiral.
They went down the halls and past many doorways until they reached
a large office filled only with a desk and a computer at the end of the
room. "Be seated," the admiral said as they stepped inside. Han sat
down by Luke and as he gazed out the door he spotted a very familiar
figure, "Hey kid!" He called. Eric turned toward the voice and waved
cheerfully at the group. The admiral turned to look and motioned for
him to come inside, "Hook up the computer evidence to the monitor,"
he ordered. "Yes, sir," Eric answered, obviously more uptight. The
Young Jedi got to work quickly as the admiral stood over him, "After
you finish that I want you working on the system failures. I trust
you will do the job right." "I'll do my best, sir." With that the
Admiral left with a snort. "Twit," Eric mumbled in an irritated voice.

"I heard that!" The admiral said from the door. Eric scratched the
back of his neck to hide the fact that he felt embarrassed then set
to work again. As soon as he felt the Admiral turn into the corridor
Eric felt a great burden lift from his back.  Eric screwed in the
last bolt then stood up to see his family looking at him. Leia
with the expression of concern, Luke with the usual parental look
that tells you should have kept your mouth shut, and Han with
a cross between amused and worried. With a cheery smile he hugged them
all and saw that their expressions mellowed. His uncle gave him a
mischievous smile, "You know, I could probably find a way to fire
Admiral Veact." Eric Laughed, "As tempting as that sounds I don't think
it's right to fire a guy just because your nephew thinks he's a twit.
Besides that would ruin the fun of making jokes about him at lunch."

Han flashed his famous lopsided smile, "You know out of all the
jobs in the New Republic, I wouldn't have chosen this for my life."
Eric snorted, "Neither would I, if I actually had a choice. Now
you have to start at the bottom and work to the top." Luke gave him
a confused look, "Why would they do that?" He asked. Eric shrugged,
"I don't know dad, but something seems pretty weird about it and
all of the admirals, come to think of it." A troubled expression

covered his old cheery one. "I wish I knew what was going on,"
he said as took his tools from the table. "We should do some good
investigating, who knows what could be going on," Han said with
his face strangely serious. Luke nodded, and Leia turned to her

nephew, "We'll talk to you over at the Imperial Palace, come as soon
as you can." "All right," he said as he went out the door. Luke
starred after him as he went though the halls and to the ships and glow
panels. His mind was a little confused and a little disappointed regarding
Eric's reactions. "He seems to be less mature," Leia said as if
reading his mind. Luke hesitatingly nodded, lost in many thoughts.
"Hey, give the kid a break. He's dealing with some annoying people,"
Han said, objecting to their dismal remarks. Luke shook his head
and began to wonder how he ever survived all these meetings without
making everyone think that he's irresponsible. Han was never a
politician, that was for certain and perhaps for his own good. With in
the next moment Admiral Veact returned to the room, "Please, be
seated," He said again stiffer than the last time. As they did so
a tall silver driod came through the door and waited for his next
assignment.

                    CHAPTER 7

"Ah, Em trido," he said with a face burst of pleasure.
"Began the screening of the data." "Certainly, Admiral," the droid
said with a slight gesture of the hand. Em trido sat down at the
computer and encrypted the codes of the program, soon the Coriscant
System showed up on the large screen above. "This was at 7:00 this
morning, as you can see there are no disturbances and nothing that
looks hostile. Though Eric Skywalker's feelings told us otherwise,
he argued persistently about it, so we checked again at 12:00.
At that time we saw a couple of star ships and some strange energy
forces which caused a bit of commotion about weather this should be
considered a threat. And as soon as you told us about your experiences we
knew for sure that something was going really bad. We still must
figure out what all this is about, and we must figure it out fast,"
he said with definite determination.  Leia let a deep breath escape
as the information sunk in. Han looked over to Luke with a sarcastic
smile, "Looks like the fate of the galaxy is in our hands again, kid."
Luke nodded, his expression remained very serious, "What are your ideas,
Admiral?" The Admiral sighed, "My guess is that it's some alien race
that craves to see distruction. Whatever they are they look pretty
dangerous." Suddenly Luke felt a surprisingly familiar presence, he
gasped at the feeling then felt a message come from the presence.

"Luke! You ok kid?" Han said as he saw his friend’s face. Leia suddenly
began to feel the presence as well, "I can't believe it," she said.
Luke met her eyes "She's alive!" A rush of feelings came through him,
part of him was happy and part of him was very confused. Leia shook
her head as a delighted smile appeared on her face. Han gave them
exasperated looks then finally he had to respond, "Ok, again you leave
me out. What the heck are you talking about!" Finally the two
focused their attention on him, though neither of them were able to
talk. "Guys," Han said slowly and impatiently. Leia cleared her throat
and with choked up words she talked, "Gariel is alive, we felt her
presence, though I'm not sure of where she is." Han looked at her in
disbelief, "Are you sure about this?" They both nodded. Luke swallowed
hard, "There's more to it," he said reluctantly. "What?" Leia asked.

"She's on the ship that is above the atmosphere, the ship of an
alien race called the Animeas. She's trapped up there, she didn't
tell me how, but she said that this race is going to attack. They
are the hostile force that we were afraid of." Han leaned back in
his chair, "Great, just Great," He said dismally. Leia sighed
and pulled her loose hairs behind her ear, "We can assemble the squad
quickly, but I don't know what we can do about Gariel." Luke took deep
breath as his expression became troubled, he closed his eyes and used
a Jedi calming technique. Only with a calm mind could he help his wife.

                        CHAPTER 8

The twins squinted in the darkness of the room to make out the
shape of what appeared to be a lost child. The figure came closer into
the light and stopped right in front of them, "What do you want from us?"
she asked in a suspicious voice. "We don't want anything from you,"
Shawn explained gently, "We just want to help you." "And what exactly

makes you think that we want any help!" Called a boy in the corner of the
room. "Be quiet, Callen!" The girl said exasperatingly. She turned back
to the Jedi knights, "Why do you wish to help us?" She asked.
"Because I felt despair in you," Shawn answered. "And?" "That's all, you
just seemed like you needed it. Now do you want help or not?" Stephanie
asked impatiently. "Steph," Shawn said in a pleading tone. Stephanie
sighed and rolled her teal colered eyes. "Look, I know we probably seem
like babbling idiots, or suspicious people but I promise you that we will
help you if you need help." "We took the time to come over here and
talk to you the least you can do is think about it," Stephanie pinched in.
"How do you think that you can possibly help us?!" Callen asked bitterly.

"We're Jedi in training, it may not mean much to you but you have our
word that we will at least try our best, "Shawn answered, trying to keep
his voice calm. The girl slowly stood straight up and walked closer
to Shawn, "You don't know what your getting into, I'm warning you it's
gonna be really dangerous." An un-lady-like snort came from Stephanie
though she decided to keep her mouth shut. Shawn gulped, the word
dangerous did not appeal to him, "Although I'm not one to plunge into
danger, I will still help you," He said reluctantly. She gave him an
admirable smile and held out her hand, "My name's Callina, and that's
my brother Callen." Shawn shook her hand, "I'm Shawn, and that's my
twin sister Stephanie," he said following the same suit. Shawn cocked
his head and gestured for their new friends to come out of the dump
with them. As the group stepped into the light some extra happiness
began to build up with-in them, but soon the grins began to turn
into frowns as they all looked up into the sky to see a strange space
craft. Callen's face showed pure terror, "No!" he cried. "I've got
a really bad feeling about this," Shawn said nervously. "Figures,"
Stephanie said dismally. Callina gasped but soon snapped out of her
trance, "Come on, we have to get to safety!" "Come on, this way,"
Stephanie urged running up the street. The other kids followed fast
behind her, "Hurry!" exclaimed Shawn who was all ready out of breath.

                         CHAPTER 9

The Imperial Palace was soon seen in front of them along with the
twin's family in front. "Where the heck have you been!" Jaina yelled,
"We were so worried about you... Who are they?" Jaina's brandy-brown
eyes meet the two street kids, their black hair, blue eyes, and ragged
clothes. "No time to explain," Shawn called as they flew by.
"Come on!" Stephanie called to them with impatient worry. Jaina and Jacen
exchanged confused glances, but soon ran after them when they saw the
space ship.  "What kind of a ship is that!" Jacen exclaimed looking
at his sister. "Don't look at me, even I don't know what that is," Jaina
answered. Callen looked around with a dismal look on his face, "Why did
they have to come?" he whispered angrily. Callina looked at the older
twins and answered thier question; "That ship belongs to aliens that
live far away from this galaxy, if that ship stops here you can expect
that they mean trouble." "What kind of trouble?" Jaina asked warily.
"I don't really know all the details, all I know is that our father and
Mother were abducted and we haven't seen either of them since." Callen
gave her an angry look, "What the do you think your doing!" he
whispered. She turned back to him, "Calm down Callen, we can trust them,
they said that they would help." Callen's angry look did not fade away.

Callina crossed her arms and gave him a gently stern look and finally
he calmed down. "So that's what you needed help with?" Shawn asked from
the other side of the room. She nodded and he heaved a big sigh, "We'll
try our best," He said trying to keep his voice steady. Callina smiled,
she could tell that he was a bit afraid but still admired the fact that
he was going to try. Eric soon came through the door and gave his cousins
a small hug, "Are they here yet?" he asked. "No but some other people
are," Jaina answered. Eric looked over on the other side of the room
and saw the street kids. A confused look appeared on his face, "What's
going on?" The twins pointed at Shawn and Stephanie in the other corner,
"They've been walking around in the city," Jaina said. Jacen sighed as
he saw Eric give his siblings the 'lecture' look. "Don't go too hard on
them Eric," he said as he turned to follow his sister down the hall.

Eric sighed as he walked toward them, he turned to the street kids and
sensed that they weren't a threat. "If you want you two can go into that
room over there. You will find some more clothes and a bathroom to the
left." Callen meet him with a sarcastic glance, but before he could
say anything his sister pulled him into the room behind her. Eric then
turned to the twins, "All right guys, lets hear it." Shawn and Stephanie
exchanged nervous glances, "Come on, I just want the truth I'm not going
to chop your headS off or anything," said Eric. "Ok, basically Shawn had
a curiosity about what was in the city and once he mentioned it I wanted
to check it out for myself. Once we got down there we felt those kids
in danger, and we decided that maybe we could help." Eric shook his head
"What a tangled web we weave," he said softly. "Tell me about it," Shawn
said leaning against the wall. "First of all, try not to get too
mischievous, you'll end up paying dearly from it. Second of all, be more
careful when you decide to help someone. From now on I want you to start
thinking about things before you do them. Understand?" Shawn and Stephanie
reluctantly nodded. "All right go see if you can help your new friends,"
Eric said. "What no shouting go to your rooms?" She asked sarcastically.

"If you get into a mess you take the responsibility of fixing it," He
answered dryly. Stephanie walked briskly to the room while Shawn walked
up to Eric, he bit his lip then looked up, "Eric, I know you probably
all ready planned on telling dad but..." Eric cut him off," Oh, I'm not
going to tell him." "You're not?" Shawn asked. "Nope, weather you tell him
with words or he just happens to read your mind, he'll find out." Shawn
gave him a sarcastic gaze, "Oh ya, that helps." "Shawn!" Stephanie called,
"Come on you have to help too." Shawn sighed and walked in there after
her. He took one more look at his brother, "They won't mind if they
have a couple of new guests will they?" He asked. At Shawn's worried
look Eric softened a bit, "Not as long as you take care of them."

Shawn nodded and started to turn around toward his sister, "Shawn, Steph,"
he called. They both fixed their gaze on him, expecting another
lecture, "You two did a good thing by taking them in, it shows a
lot of compassion. But remember, you have to be careful about who you're
taking care of, those two aren't dangerous but others may be deadly."
Stephanie sighed and walked into the bathroom with folded arms, though
she seemed not to care Eric could tell that she did. Shawn nodded and
let the knowledge sink in as he followed her.

                                    CHAPTER 10

Above the capital world of Coriscant the Animea ship soared close
to the atmosphere with full thrusters. The aliens and a few humans
guided the ship, each full of anticipation for the up coming event.
Now that they could abduct these humans they would turn them into
one of there most prized possessions, slaves. The Czar smiled a
pleased smile; "No more shall the Animea starve because of our financial problems, we shall live with the help of these humans instead of starve
because of them and their insignificant alien allies." The crew made enthusiastic cheers of agreement.

As these cheers echoed through the hall Gariel quietly tip-toed down
the hall in the other direction. She quickly walked into the
transporter room and found to her dismay that the crew were still
in there. "Oh, I'm so sorry my masters. I must have walked into the
wrong room." "You have forgotten your way around, Gariel? Perhaps
we should take you down to the revival room." "No!" she cried. Looking
around sheepishly she regained her calm state, "I mean that I do not
need any revival right now, I need a little more rest that's all."
She walked back through the hall, "Now what?" she whispered to herself.
The instant Gareil left the room the solders were suspicious, "Capture
her," the commander said. The solders ran out the oddly shaped corridor
and ran after the woman, Gariel quickly looked around then leaped into
a garbage pit. The solders looked down at her in total surprise, she
looked around desperately when at last she found an old blaster. Tightly
gripping the weapon, she ducked down low and pulled the trigger. Red
bolts of energy flew over her head but did little damage, "There goes
plan A," she muttered under her breath. Sighing, she scanned the area
for anything that could help her, but once she found a sharp gem it was
too late. The solders clutched her with bruising grip and dragged her
over the hole she had jumped through. As they dragged her down the hall
she kept still, knowing that there was nothing she could do; for now.

                       CHAPTER 11

Luke and Leia exchanged shocked glances as the message from Gariel-
Luke's wife who had been assumed to be dead- still remained in their
heads as if they had just gotten the message. "Whoa, whoa. Wait a minute,
how can she be alive? She was killed on Yavin One three years ago!"
Han said bluntly.  Luke looked down as he remembered when he and Eric
had found the home burned and a death threat in the grass. Finally he
looked over to his friend, "I'm just as confused as you are, Han.
The real important concept of this matter though is that she is alive
and in trouble.  We have got to help her, not only could this help her
but it could also help the entire rebel fleet." Luke's voice was choked
up as he spoke, emotions began to overcome him. Closing his eyes
he used the Jedi calming technique to get his feelings under control.
Admiral Veact looked from one person to another, his mind confused
regarding the family ordeal. Finally he spoke up; "I will get the fighting
teams prepared, General Solo." Han nodded vigorously, " Don't fire until
I give you the signal." The admiral nodded as he made his way out the
door.

Leia shook her brother, " Come on Luke, we have to meet with Eric."
She gently put a comforting hand on his shoulder, and Luke slowly got
up. He quickly brushed the mixed feelings aside and followed Leia and
Han to the Imperial Palace. The group walked in to see Eric leaned
against the wall, peering into the guest room. "Eric," Luke called
softly. Eric turned and gave all of them a small smile, when he saw
his father's  troubled expression he frowned, "What's wrong dad?"
"There is much more that we have to talk about, other than the rebal
alliance." Eric was overcome with confusion, what could he be talking
about? His expression turned serious though Luke could tell by his
son's gaze that he was very confused yet full of anticipation.
Luke clasped a calm hand on his shoulder, "Where are your siblings? They
need to hear this too." "They're in the guest room," he answered.

Luke walked to the door, "You may not want to go in," Eric called after
him. By the time he said that the door was already shut behind him.
Leia turned him toward her; "Admiral Veact is going to lead rebel forces
against the aliens," She said, deciding to give him some background info.
"The aliens are hostile and seem to be going after humans." Eric's eyes
widened but he forced himself to remain calm, "What do they want?"
"That's the only thing kid, we don't know." Han said. Curiosity flowed
through Eric and the question became very tempting to ask, "What was
dad talking about?" His aunt and uncle pondered for a moment and they
both let out a big sigh, "I think you'd better ask your father that,"
Leia said. Eric gave them a pleading look, but before he could say anything
they walked down the halls. Jacen and Jaina walked down the hall, only
to be hurried back up by their parents. "What's going on?" Jaina whispered.

"Your Aunt Gariel is alive," Leia whispered back as they rushed through
the hall.  The twin's faced lit up with both happiness and astonishment
as she led them down the hall to talk to them separately. Eric stood
watching with growing curiosity, although he could not make out their
words as they scooted down the hall. Luke guided the twins into the

room, "I don't want you wandering off like that again, do you understand
me?" he said in an calm authoritative tone. They both nodded solemnly
and sat down on the couch in the middle of the room, "Eric," Luke called,
"Sit down here." He turned to see his father with his hand on the seat
beside him. Eric sat down and folded his hands in his lap, eagerly paying
attention with a fake serious expression to cover his anxiety. Luke
gave him a wry smile, knowing his true feelings, but his expression
returned to the troubled one he wore when he came though the front door.

"This may come as a shock to all of you, but you must hear this. I have
gotten a resent mental message from your mother.." Luke hesitated to
look at his children's reactions. "What?" they asked in unison.

                         CHAPTER 12

"Your mother is alive," he responded calmly, this was going to take some
getting used to. "Dad, that's impossible... She was killed three years
ago," Eric said in a lower voice. Luke gave him a wise look, "Don't
forget what I've taught you." Eric sighed, "Ok, maybe not impossible,
but you have to admit that it's very far-fetched." Luke nodded, "I was
just as surprised as you are. I went through the memories of her death,

picturing the burnt house, then you with your gang clothes digging through
the pile of rubble..." Luke's voice trailed off as he  remembered the
pain, but he pulled himself together. "I have to help her fight against
the hostile aliens." Eric sighed and nodded, lost in his own thoughts.
Shawn looked sadly around the room, the description depressed him,
but he was happy to know that she was still alive. Stephanie looked
sad for a moment, then looked up, "Wait a minute, did you say that
Eric was in gang clothes? He was a gang member!" Eric groaned, she
just had to bring that up didn't she. Luke nodded, "He was for a while
but he changed." The twins looked at Eric both full of surprise, he
sighed then stared out the window. His mind drifted back to his
mother, finally he turned toward Luke," If your going, I’m coming with
you," he said decisively. Luke nodded with a supporting smile, "All
right, I'll get some supplies. Eric turned to his siblings, Stephanie
met him with a mocking smile, and Shawn full of curiosity. "All right,
ask away," He said rolling his green eyes. "Why were you a gang member?"
Stephanie asked, her eyes becoming more piercing. "Because I was mixed up
inside, and I believed that being tough was cool." Eric looked at
Shawn who seemed lost in thought; he didn't appear to care much about
his brothers ugly past. "What was mom like?" he finally asked. The
question at first caught him off-guard, he hadn't talked about her
personality before. Eric sighed and gave his brother a supporting
smile, "She was very strict at times, but always in a nice way. She
worries a lot when it comes to those she loves. She always had a
genteel way of dealing with problems, although I did anger her a lot."
The twins burst out in laughter, they couldn't believe it, their usually
wise and calm brother used to be a gangster, and drive his mom nuts.

Callina and Callen came out, "Thanks for your hospitality, I hope we
didn't cause to much trouble," Callina said shyly. Callen rolled his
ice blue eyes at the remark, and let an impatient breath escape his
mouth. "It's alright," Shawn insisted. Calina nodded with a smile upon
her face. "What can we do to find your parents?" "If they're alive,
they're probably in the ship we just saw." "Our mom is up there as well,"
Eric said softly, "Do you know what the aliens want with humans?"
"Haven't a clue," Callen said dismally. "The only thing I remember hearing
when they got abducted was something about helping their kind," Callina
said with a haunted expression. Eric closed his eyes as he absorbed
the information, "Is there anything else you can tell me about it?"
Callen swallowed, "They were all sucked into something like a vacuum
from under the ship." Callina tried to think of anything that could help
but all evidence escaped her. "All right, thanks," He said as he turned
to walk down the hall. Stephanie sighed, "Come on, let's get cracking."

                        CHAPTER 13

Shawn led the way down the hall to where Jacen and Jaina were. Stephanie
strode closer to them, "Do you think you can help track down some parents?"
she asked nodding back at the street kids. Jaina turned around, her
brandy brown eyes were full of astonishment, but she decided to avoid
the subject of her aunt. "Sure," Jacen answered for them.  He gave her
a compassionate pat on the shoulder and gestured for her to follow
him. She sighed and did so. As she walked down the hall she
could sense her brother's confusion, though he hid it well. She used
a Jedi calming technique to help sooth her mind. Shawn stopped in the

middle of the hallway and turned sheepishly to his cousins, "Um, I think
you guys should lead the way, I've got no clue when it comes to
directions on Coriscant." Jaina gave him a wry smile, and happily took
charge of directions, Jacen followed slowly behind her glancing around
the corners and corridors. Callen snorted in sarcasm at the display
of what he thought was cluelessness. Callina gave him a moral look, but
he brushed it away with the roll of his ice-blue eyes. Shawn looked around
the building with growing curiosity, and Stephanie just followed with
her arms folded across her chest. "Here we are!" Jaina exclaimed with
a happy glint in her eyes- computers were her specialty. Stephanie
walked in with the street kids behind her, she sat down at the nearest
computer and powered it up. Shawn sat down next to her and watched the
screen as she typed  key commands into the computer. With that done
she went back and scanned through the list of recorded people across
the galaxy. "What's the name?" she asked. "Admiral Jason Veact," Callina
responded. The twins looked back at them in astonishment, "That's the
guy we met at the New Republic headquarters!" Shawn exclaimed.

Their faces lit up, "Did you hear of any woman with the last name Veact?"
Callina asked. They shook their heads. "Figures," Callen said dismally.
"We can still look," Stephanie said. "What's the point?" he asked
dismally as he stormed out of the room. Callina sighed heavily,
"When will he ever learn?" she muttered as she followed him out of
the room. Stephanie and Shawn exchanged confused glances, "Ok, what
the heck just happened here?" Stephanie asked as she walked toward the
corridor. "God, can't you people take a hint! GO AWAY!" Callen yelled.

"What's wrong with your brother?" Shawn asked as Callen stormed down
the hall. She sighed, "Callen's been stuck in the anger phase for a long
time, before our parent's got abducted. Come on, let's follow him so
he doesn't get into too much trouble." Again Jacen and Jaina lead
the way down to the luxurious family room, where the angry boy had
stopped. Eric came into the room, "I thought you went to the central
computers," He said. "We did, then we came back because of his little
temper-tantrum," Stephanie said bitterly. "Who the hell cares, it's
not like you could do much any way!" Callen yelled making his way
out the door. Eric put a hand on his shoulder and used the force to
calm the boy down, he then turned to his sister. "Be careful what
you say around people, it may backfire." She considered this for a
second then sighed, his advice was very good, maybe she needed a bit
of an attitude adjustment as well. "Go lead them to their father,"
Eric said with a smile. The words caught Stephanie by surprise, but
she did as he said remembering that he was a Jedi. The other teens
quickly followed leaving Eric in the room waiting for his father.

                                   CHAPTER 14

Luke slowly came out the corridor and handed Eric a long black cloak,
"Disguise?" he asked raising his eyebrows. Luke nodded, "Are you sure
that this is going to fit in?" Eric asked. His father nodded, "I had
a dream about this last night," Luke explained. Eric nodded and
draped the disguise around his black flight suit. They walked out the
door and to one of the rebel attack ships, "Where's Artoo?" Eric asked
with a wry smile. "I told him to help Tionne, hopefully there won't

be any more food fights." An amused look appeared on Eric's face as he
remembered the floating food.  Eric hopped in the back and Luke got in
after him, Luke said, "You practically scared the wits out of the Jedi,
yet you were amused by it." He threw his son a quick teasing glance;
"I have my methods," Eric stated with a glint of humor in his green
eyes. After punching the coordinates in they leaned back with their
crash webbing fastened around them.

The big A-wing lifted from the docking bay and headed toward space
and with the wave of their hands they were out of sight. Leia, Han,
and the teens waved back until the ship was a small glimmer in the sky.
Luke felt uneasiness in Eric as they flew past the ozone layer
"Are you ready for this, son?" he asked softly. Eric slowly let his
breath out, "Yes, dad," he said looking at his father's reflection
in the windshield. "As ready as I'll ever be," he murmured.
Luke in the directions and sat back as the tractor beam of the Aniema
ship brought them in.

Stephanie looked over to Shawn with an unusual worried glance, he returned
it but told himself that they would be fine. Callen looked around the group
with yet another irritated look, “Can we go now or what?” Callina
gave him an angry glance, he stepped back, “Fine I’ll shut up, it’s
all you ever want me to do any way.” She softened a bit but still
kept her stern look as she led her younger brother to the headquarters
of the New Republic. Han and Leia walked quickly to the docking bay
of the rebel fighters. “What can we do to find our mother?” Callina
asked. “We could go to the city central computer, it will have more
data than the computers in the Imperial Palace,” Jacen suggested.
“Let’s do that later though, it’s better for them to sort things out
with their father first,” Shawn said.  “Maybe this case could help
us solve another mystery,” Jaina added with a thoughtful look.

The street kids quietly followed, paying no mind to the discussion that
was going on, too mixed with emotions to focus. The building appeared
to come closer and closer toward them as they walked to the doors.
Shawn turned to the siblings; he felt confusion, fear, and curiosity
in Callina, while he felt anger, fear, and confusion in her brother.
He gave the girl a comforting look and she responded with a nervous
smile, Callen just shrugged pretending that everything was fine.
Jaina opened the door to the building quickly, holding it briefly
so that her brother could get in. Jacen pulled it open all the way
and let everyone else in, as he held it a booming voice interrupted
the street kids thoughts; “What do you think you are doing here!”
he shouted. The other Admirals turned toward the teenagers, their

faces full of exasperation. “Well? Answer me!” Admiral Veact shouted.
“We have very good reasons, Admiral!” Jaina yelled back, “We’ve
brought your kid’s to you, and we found them on the street!”

Jacen brought Callen and Callina to the table, in front of the Admiral’s
astonished eyes. Callen eyed him as if he didn’t care about the reunion
whatsoever, he seemed like a  little boy encased in a hard shell of
hate. Callina’s face lit up with merriment as she flung her arms around
him, “We thought you’d been abducted,” She said. “Oh, I have. We all
have,” he said with an evil voice. Callina quickly stepped back, and
pulled her brother with her. The Admirals from the different worlds
stood up with an eerie twinkle in their eyes, “I think it’s time that

they are exposed to the wonders that we were,” One said. “Indeed,”
Veact said. With one gesture of his hand troops stomped around the
structure of the building, locking the Jedi and street kids in the…
headquarters of the bad guys?

                                     CHAPTER 15

Han and Leia stood before the intercom, waiting for their code to be
cleared. Leia could sense her husband’s tension rising within him
as the door opened with a clunk, “Come on General, let’s move,” She
said, repeating the words she had told him years ago on the Millenium
Falcon. Han gave her a lopsided grin and eased a bit as they walked
quickly through the halls. “Commander!” Han yelled as a woman walked by.
She turned, “Sir?” she asked. “I need you to lead the x-wing fighters,
we’ve got a battle to win.”

The commander cocked her head, “What battle could I possibly lead?
Admiral Veact assures us that there is no trouble around Coriscant.”
“Commander Farsin, Veact must be mistaken. There is a lot of trouble,
hostile aliens are coming our way. You must defend the civilians!”
Leia said in her usual diplomatic way. “But…” She began. “But nothing
Commander, it’s either follow our orders or parish!” Han said quickly.
Farsin nodded gravely, “Yes, sir.” The woman rushed down the corridors
and to the fighters, “Red squad, green squad, get into orbit! Yellow
squad, stay down here and protect the civilians from ground attacks.”
The battle station came to life as fighters scrambled to their ships,
driods flew past responding to calls for help, and the higher staff
powered up the communicative systems and stood by their computers.
As Leia and Han ran up to the New Republic Sergeant and Admirals the
scene became a blur, one thing was for sure; if they were going to
go down, they would go down fighting.

                   CHAPTER 16

Just above the atmosphere Eric could see the x-wing fighters coming
up fast from a hidden compartment in the ship. The tractor beam had
pulled the ship in fiercely, and he and his father had escaped
quickly into the dark place that would hopefully keep them safe if only
for a little while.

Luke crouched close to the corridor, keeping all of his senses
alert. “They sure acted fast,” Eric whispered looking out the small
window. Luke glanced at him for a second and nodded, being careful
not to make a sound. They soon heard Aniema solders stomping overhead,
“Check some of those compartments,” One said. Both father and son
bared themselves in the darkness, keeping their lightsabers ready.
Light flooded into the compartment as the lid was quickly opened by
an armed solder. Eric quickly turned, “I don’t see anyone here, maybe
we should check some other compartments,” He said. Luke flashed him
a confused look, but as soon as he meet Eric’s twinkling eyes he
decided to play along. “I don’t remember you two being here,” the
solder said, looking at them suspiciously. “Where did you come from?”
Eric lifted his chin, “We came in with your men, perhaps you weren’t
observant enough.” The solder’s scaly skin grew tight and his red eyes
blazed at the remark. His angry stature soon looked lifeless as if
he was dazing into oblivion. “You will trust us,” Luke said firmly.
“I will trust you,” he repeated. “You and your solders will go back to
your normal duties,” Luke said. The creature repeated the sentence and
led the solders out of the big fighter. Eric’s eyes lit up with sudden
childish excitement, but with one look at his calm father he remained
serious.

“I don’t think I can feel her anywhere near,” Eric said softly.
Luke looked at him wisely as they both got up, “You are uncertain.”
“Well, you’ve felt her before, I haven’t,” Eric replied. A shrill scream
disturbed the silence, “Let go of me!” a woman yelled. Eric and Luke
jogged down to the ramp, and quietly peered through the opening without
being seen. The Czar sat in a high black chair overlooking the Animea
and their slaves. “Commander, I hope you have barged in with a very
good explanation,” the Czar said coldly. “ We’ve taken this woman to
be lobotomized again, and we’ve found out that she has betrayed us!”
“Betrayed us how, Commander?” Czar asked smugly, “What is it this time,
she took up your space?” The solders looked mockingly at him, “Not this
time, my Czar. She has warned a human about our attack.” “Is this
true, Skywalker?” He asked. Gariel didn’t answer. The Czar’s eyes
began to blaze as he felt the truth of the incident sting him, “Well, you
can be sure that nobody’s going to save you now!” Eric felt his anger
growing and growing, and once he saw the leader take out a whip he
snapped.

Luke was barely able to keep his son from charging in by grabbing
him and keeping him away from the opening. Eric struggled, “You
can’t…” “Calm down, Eric. He’s not even going to touch her.” Eric
watched in surprise as the whip flew over the room, held up by the force.
The Czar nearly exploded with anger, “Take her to her cell!” he yelled.

Luke took a hold of Eric’s arm and led him after the small band of
solders surrounding his wife. They snuck around the ship and tip-toed
through the hall ways, keeping next to the walls to be invisible to
the leader and solders. Gariel was thrown into the cell harshly, as
the medal bars slammed shut she became aware of the two men that were
there instead of the solders.

                                     CHAPTER 17

The solders went by the two, quietly marching in unison until they
meet the Czar. The lieutenant stepped forward, “My Czar, Admiral Veact
has prisoners for you.” The Czar’s once furious expression became
happy with an evil twist, “ Thank you, now get back to your duties.
Solders, I want a better search of that fighter ship.” Eric’s
looked suspiciously down the hall, but he was soon brought back
to reality by his father’s stern look. “You could have gotten yourself
in a lot of trouble, Eric.” He sighed, “I know. I’m sorry, Dad.” Eric
got up and looked around for a way for his mom to get out. Luke walked
over to him and began to key in the right command, using the force to
help. Gariel rushed out of the cell, delighted to see her family again.
“Luke!” She cried softly as she swung her arms around him. Luke happily
hugged her back, then released her, “ Come, we must get out of here
quickly.” She took a quick surprised look at the other man beside her,
“Eric?” She asked. Eric nodded and gave her a reassuring smile, “It’s
gonna be all right mom, just follow us.”

Fighters outside the large alien ship surrounded the atmosphere of
Coriscant; preventing any hostile force to enter.
The old Rebel fighter Wedge sat in the x-wing intent on doing his duty
right. All wings reported in for the battle.
“Yellow wings, stay close to the atmosphere in case we need back up,”
Wedge ordered. The Aniema ship came closer, very slowly like a slug.
While the Yellow wings stayed behind the red and green wings loomed
closer to the target. The intercom buzzed with excitement; “We’re past
the ozone layer,” Jenson said. Before Wedge’s eyes a small part of
the ship opened, revealing unwanted enemy fighters. Beams of laser
blast soared across the small part of space, “Watch that cross fire,”
Wedge shouted. “There’s too many of them!” A woman screamed. Wedge
remained focused, “Green wings, attack formation B.” Ten ships on
both sides of the Red wings flew in like a flying v, blasting together
as a team. Red wings scattered around in front of the Yellow wings and
threw powerful blasts at the attackers. Wedge sat back in his chair,
it looked like most of them were gone but he knew to expect the
unexpected.

                       CHAPTER 18

Below the atmosphere Han, Leia, and the New Republic officers
stood over the intercom listening to the fighters. Their hearts were
full of fear. Leia suddenly dazed and her worried expression changed to
one of horror, “Han, something’s wrong.” He turned away from the intercom,
“What is it?” he asked. “The kids, they’re in danger.” Han’s eyes widened,
he used the communication system to call the Imperial Palace, and with
a disappointed and worried look he informed her that she was correct.

“Keep the fighters on target, General. We’ll get around in the Falcon.”
As the worried parents rushed back to the Palace they noticed the queer
looking base, “There must be something wrong in there,” Leia observed.
Han gave a brief nod, “It looks like it’s all ready being taken care
of,” He said, pointing to the Admirals. They ran quickly into the old
ship and blasted off into space, just above the atmosphere. Han’s eyes
widened at the sight of the huge ship, and the battle. “I’ve got a
bad feeling about this,” He stated dismally. Leia stood silent for a
couple of minutes, “Come on Han, let’s go.” The Millenium Falcon
soared away from the docking bay, and into the heat of the battle.

Gariel followed her son and husband with feelings of happiness, and
confusion. Were they being pursued? How could they possibly escape?
She shook the thoughts away and forced herself to stay focused, knowing
she could not afford to make a mistake. All of a sudden they heard many
voices echoing down the hall. Eric stuck his head out to peak at the
action, he let out a small groan when he saw who it was. “Dad, we’ve
got a problem.” Luke took a look and contemplated a bit, he then turned
to Eric. “Take your mother to the shuttle and wait for me.” Eric stared
at him with concern written all over his face, “Are you sure?” Animea solders
stampeded in their direction, “Go!” Luke answered urgently. Eric took
hold of his mom’s hand and lead her to the ship quickly. Luke
sighed in relief and hid himself in the darkness so that the solders
passed him.  Once the coast was clear he stepped out and began to sneak
to where the Young Jedi Knights were. “Let go of me you jerk!” Callen
screamed. The other’s struggled, but couldn’t break loose from the
guards’ strong grips. Jacen concentrated and used all loose objects
to hit their enemies.  Luke stood in the dark corner watching the objects
fly at the solders. Stephanie and Jaina helped him out and joined forces,
while Shawn and the street kids struggled to free themselves. The guards
kept getting knocked down by the hurling objects, but always managed
to keep a good hold on them. Jacen and Jaina reached out with the force
and with a whoosh their lightsabers were in their hands. With their
weapons ready the two Jedi shoved themselves away from their guards and
held their lightsabers in a defensive position. The guards lunged at
them, but with a flick of their wrists they dropped lifeless. Stephanie
slid to catch a blaster just in time to turn and shoot it at her guard.
“Shawn!” she yelled. He quickly turned and caught the blaster as it flew
through the air. “Oh no you don’t,” The guard said knocking it out of his
hands. He put an arm around Shawn’s neck, “Drop your weapons or he dies.”

Suddenly Luke jumped out of the darkness and knocked him over, “Run!”
He yelled to them. The older twins knocked the last guards out, and

Stephanie grabbed Callen and Callina away from danger. Shawn started
To run when he felt a fresh danger sense nag at the back of his mind.
He stopped in the same corner that his father had, and crouched down
low, letting the other Jedi run ahead.

                       CHAPTER 19

The fighters outside the ship were stuck in a real tough battle, and
even Wedge’s confidence was starting to fail. Laser blasts were flying
everywhere, and their shoots just barely skimmed the surface of the
huge ship. Wedge looked out of the cockpit and was relived when he saw the
Millenium Falcon coming toward them. “Solo, this is Wedge. Can you
hear me sir?” There was no answer. “Solo, we need your help.” Again
there was no answer, and the ship kept on it’s coarse to the ship.
“Please, you’ve got to help.” Finally there was an answer, “We hear
you Wedge, but we can’t help now. Our family’s aboard that ship.”
The Millenium Falcon was caught in the tractor beam just like the
old A-wing. Wedge sighed in distress, there had to be some way to
get out of this mess.

The teens ran down the hall, when to their surprise a familiar ship
came in. “Dad?” Jacen said gawking at the ship as though he hadn’t
seen it in years. Han and Leia quickly climbed out and ran towards
them while Chewie stayed in the cockpit. Han caught the twins in a
fierce hug, “Are you ok kids?” They nodded. “Not nearly as ok as we’d
like to be,” Callen muttered under his breath. Callina nudged him again,

“Callen, grow up,” she said as she rushed him into the ship. Stephanie
looked behind her, “Shawn, where’s Shawn?” she asked worriedly. Han’s
happy face turned grim, “Where did you see him last?” “Back there, when
dad saved us,” She replied. “Then he’ll be ok, Luke’s got him.” Han
put an arm around his niece, and got her to follow him to the Millenium
Falcon. “But what if…” Stephanie’s voice trailed off. “He’ll be ok,
trust me I know your dad.” She reluctantly turned and walked up the
ramp. She sat by Jacen on the window seat, “Well, you’ve had your action,
do you feel any better?” he asked with a Solo lopsided grin. Stephanie
sighed heavily, “Not a bit, do you think he’ll be ok?” “Hey, does my
dad lie?” Jacen asked. Stephanie turned back to him, “Well, he was a
smuggler.” He laughed, “All right, do I lie?” “ I don’t remember you
ever lying, but I could probably get a memory from someone else.”
“All right, so I’ve never lied to you. And I say that he’ll be fine.”
She gave him a smile, then turned back toward the window.

Shawn was still crouched in the corner watching his father’s moves
carefully. So far Luke was winning by far; the guards were beaten
up and lying on the floor, partly because of the young Jedi knights.
Although there were still some officers attacking, but all were whisked
away in seconds. “Why did I sense danger, he’s doing great by himself?”
Shawn wondered. Luke was suddenly confronted by another Jedi, with
a lightsaber as red as blood. Their blades thrashed, when Shawn noticed
Admiral Veact attacking from behind. His eyes flickered around the
Room until he got an idea. As quickly as he could he put all his
concentration on a broken R2 unit. “I can do this,” He whispered to
himself. Slowly the object began to move; Shawn put all of his strength
into it, and the object moved faster and faster and knocked the Admiral
out just in time. The battle between the Jedi stops for a moment, “Well,
well it look’s like your getting a little help.” She reached out with
the force, and to Luke’s dismay she pulled Shawn out of the corner.

Shawn struggled, but her grasp on him was too strong. He pulled away

just barely and grabbed a blaster from the solder, his sister’s voice
came into his head, “You can do it, Shawn.” Shawn spun around and shot
at the Jedi, who deflected it without strain. “Oh, crap,” he said
dismally. She cackled an evil laugh, and threw him against the pole
by his father. “So much for plan A,” Shawn gasped. “So we go to plan B,”
Luke said with a grin. “I’m not sure weather I like the sound of that,”
Shawn said, noticing his dad’s mischievous twinkle in his eyes. Luke
reached out with the force and pushed the right buttons on the bar
panels. The laser bindings swept away with a woosh. “Ok, maybe I do
like this plan,” Shawn said standing up. “They’re escaping!” the guard
yelled weakly. Solders ran into the room with the admiral and Jedi
following close behind. “Hang on tight!” Luke yelled. Shawn did so
obediently. Luke grabbed another pole right by him, and used the force
to open the air lock. Solders and dead bodies began to fly out into
space, but the other Jedi began to close it. Shawn sent another object
hurling at him, and knocked him out. The rest of them finally got sucked
out of the air lock was quickly shut again, the change set them tumbling
on the ground. Luke quickly got up and turned off the tractor beams
with the main computer in the hall. “Come on, son,” he said lifting him
up. Shawn panted as they quickly made their way down the hall, sirens
were ringing all though out the ship. Shawn turned his head briefly
to see the Millenium Falcon, “Dad, come on!” Luke followed him quickly
up the ramp.

                       CHAPTER 20

To Shawn’s surprise Stephanie met him with a big hug,
“Are you ok?” She asked. Shawn nodded with his chin still dropped, he
recovered quickly and hugged her back.  Luke smiled brightly as the
twins made their way to the nearest seats. The future now looked a
bit brighter, even if they were in danger. Luke walked quickly to
the cockpit, “How ya doing Chewie?” He asked. Chewbacca growled a
reply and sat down in the copilot chair. “Don’t worry Chewie, we’re
going, we’re going,” Han said as he readied his ship for take off.
Luke wedged between the two pilots, “I’m gonna use your com system.”

A click came from Eric Skywalker’s small speaker. He picked it up
Warily, “Dad?” he asked. “Yes, Eric,” he said. “Where are you?”
Gariel turned toward her son and crouched away from the door. “We’re
right in front of the corridor toward the ship. Did you cut the power
to the tractor beam?” “Yes,” Luke replied. “Can you make it there
by yourself? I’m going back with your uncle.” “I can make it, there’s
just a couple of guards,” Eric said softly. “All right son, I’ll meet
you both on Coriscant.” The connection broke with a soft click. Eric
unhooked his lightsaber and held it out readily, “Let’s go mom.”

Gariel walked behind him with her own hidden lightsaber ready. The
Solders came in no time at all, and the action began. Eric chopped
a blaster in half then sent the solder flying. He looked over his
shoulder to see his mom throwing them through observation windows,
“Whoa, she’s still got it!” Eric thought. He turned just in time to
duck as more guards came running toward them. Gariel quickly shut all
the corridors with the force, then sliced a stampeding man in half.
“You’ll need to learn to watch your back better, Eric,” She said, pulling
them closer to the ship. “Great, I’ll keep that in mind for my next

dangerous adventure,” he said sarcastically. Gariel cocked her head
and grinned, he still had the sarcastic sense of humor. The guards
closed in on them and the Jedi searched desperately for a way out.
Eric nudged his mother, “Quick, get in the ship.” She shot him a
questioning look. “Trust me,” Eric said backing up to guard her.
She ran quickly and nudged those in her way with the force. Eric jumped
to the medal rods above them, he channeled his mom though thoughts.

“Move the ship ten degrees to the left.” The ship quickly moved and just
as it did Eric raised medal walls from the floor. The solders were
trapped in a medal box when Eric jumped away from the outlet and onto
the top of the ship. Gariel heard the thud of his feet and keyed in
the commands to open to top hatch. Eric jumped through the hole and
took his position at the computer, “Oh shoot, I don’t suppose you know
how to open the doors do you?” Gariel gave him a small smirk as she
leaned over the ship computer and typed away. Within seconds the door
was open and open space was reveled. “Whoa, I didn’t know you were a
hacker,” Eric said in surprise. She smiled and clasped a hand on his
shoulder, “Come on Eric, let’s get moving.” Eric looked at her and
smiled warmly, even though it felt weird, it was also a relief to have
her back. “All right here we go,” he said as the A-wing took off out
of the docking bay. Gariel grinned as she saw the Millenium Falcon
flying before them, “Looks like they made they’re way out.” Eric

grinned back, then turned quickly to the com, a familiar voice was
talking. “Luke, is that you?” Wedge asked. Eric pushed the button and
leaned in, “No sir, this is Eric. What’s wrong Wedge?” “A lot of things
kid, the whole battle does not look good. We need some help, can you
fly that thing?” “I’ve had some practice sir.” “Good,” Wedge
said with relief. “Now this is what I want you to do; see where the
long dredge meets the airlocks?” “Yes,” Eric replied. “I want you to
go in there and shoot the hole right where they meet.” “Yes sir. Buckle
yourself in mom.” Gariel put the crash webbing over her quickly in the
chair beside him. The old A-wing dove downward toward the side of the
big ship and flew down the dredge.

                                        CHAPTER 21

As the Millenium falcon landed the teens rushed to the ramp waiting in
anticipation. “Set her down Chewie,” Han said as he disengaged the
thrusters. Chewie barked an ok and flipped the switches. Luke walked
out of the cockpit and into a conversation. “Where’s our dad?” Callen
asked. The boy’s expression showed his impatience, and an unhappy
twinkle made his blue eyes even more piercing. Shawn looked up at Luke
in horror, “Admiral Veact didn’t get sucked out of that airlock did
he?” Luke gave him a sad look as he nodded an affirmative. “What!”
Callen cried in astonishment. He looked around at all the Jedi in the
group then stormed out of the ship as the ramp lowered. Callina stared
off at her brother and sighed heavily, she could feel sadness come over
her like a ghost. “I’m sorry,” Stephanie said gently. The girl nodded
then disembarked with her heart still heavy. Shawn exchanged a concerned
look with his sister and slowly walked down the ramp. The rest of the
Jedi followed him watching the two street kids walk down from the docking
pad. Jacen looked up at his uncle, “What can we do?” he asked.

“Nothing yet,” Stephanie answered for him. He looked at her in confusion
then it finally clicked, just like he couldn’t help her they can’t help them
or at least not now. Han and Leia quickly walked out with Chewie behind
them. Han looked up into the air, “Well, I don’t see Eric yet, I wonder
what’s keeping him.” “He’s out there fighting,” Luke said knowingly.
“I don’t know why though.” Leia sensed the sadness in the young Jedi
and walked toward them “What’s wrong?” she asked. “Callen and Callina
lost their father,” Shawn replied sadly. “He’ll never be lost completely,
they’ll be all right once they realize that,” Leia said softly. Shawn’s
green eyes met his Aunt brown ones, “She’s right, they’ll be ok,” Shawn
thought. He gave Leia a warm smile then stared over to the siblings in
the city park. Jacen and Jaina followed their parents to the Imperial
palace, and with a gesture from Luke the younger twins reluctantly
followed the same suit. Jaina looked at her brother with worry, “I
hope those two don’t turn to hate like Zekk did.” Jacen nodded with
the same worry on his face, “I hope they don’t too,” he said softly.

                        CHAPTER 22

The first thing that came to Eric’s mind when he flew down toward the
ship was the word suicide. It seemed impossible to blow that ship down,
but then he remembered the story his dad told him about when he learned
that nothing was really impossible. Clearing his mind of tension Eric
swooped down further nearly against the ship. Keeping his hand on the
controls he reached out with the force to help him know when to shoot.
Gariel sat beside him looking out of the cockpit carefully, right as
She shouted “There” the blast was away. Quickly he pulled up away from
the fire and soared over to the X-wings. “That was a close one,” he
said, leaning back in the pilot chair. Wedge’s voice came clear over
the intercom, “Good shouting, Eric. Yellow wings, move in.” The other
five ships moved back into defense position while the last attack
ships left made their move. The Animea ship shot at the ships fiercely
and though the ships flew their best, the X-wings were still no match
for it. “Eric, are ya still there?” Wedge asked. “Right beside you sir.”

“I need you to go in there again. Your first blast weakened the ship
a little bit, but we need something stronger. Try to go into the
central core, and knock out anything you can to blow up that ship!”
Wedge’s voice was strained in exasperation, and Eric could tell that he
needed a hero and fast. The only thing he wasn’t sure about was whether
he was right for the job. “Go on Eric you can do it,” Gariel said.
Eric shrugged away his fear and decided to give it his best shot.
“Here we go,” Eric murmured to himself. The A wing swooped down below
the fighting squadron and floated slowly below the ship. Eric reached
out with his Jedi senses as he slowly maneuvered the ship. Blasts
came out with lightning speed and the battle had just gotten hotter.
Eric dodged the shots as quickly as he could, but he and his mother
both knew that if he didn’t find cover fast the ship could be blown
to pieces. The blast met the shields hard as Gariel looked around
quickly for safety. Something tugged at Eric’s senses; he looked to his
right, and his eyes lit up with surprise. “Bingo,” he said happily.

The ship flew through the hollow hole in the ship just in the nick of
time. A relived sigh escaped from them both as the laser flew by
harmlessly. The small ship turned slowly. “Do you know where the

main reactor is?” Eric asked. “It should be down here,” She said slowly.
He maneuvered the ship down the hole as fast as he could. “Eric, there
are fighters coming in at 3 mark 1,7,” Wedge’s voice broke in. “I see
them,” Eric replied. He looked at his mom cautiously; “We’ve got to
keep them from shooting our hull, can you shoot them?” Gariel nodded,
“I’m no longer a part of their treachery,” She said as she headed toward
the guns. Eric smiled momentarily then turned his concentration on the
main reactor. Eric moved to the sides to avoid the blasts, and his
mom’s shooting helped them more than he had expected. Reaching out
with the force he choose the directions through the hole. Finally it
showed up; a huge ball in between the walls that seemed to close in on
them. “I’m readying the torpedo,” Eric announced. The blast was away
and the reactor exploded as the A-wing blasted out into space leaving
the enemy fighters in the blasted hole. Eric made it to the Wedge’s
fighter with the X-wings surrounding him. “There are no enemy ships
coming out of the hole, looks like we did it,” Gariel said as she

came to the copilot chair. “All right,” Eric breathed. Eric gave her
a hug happily then let her go as Wedge’s voice came over the intercom.

“Good job Eric, maybe you were meant to be a fighter.” Gariel smiled
at him brightly, and he smiled back. It felt kind of strange to have
her back after three years, but on the other hand it also felt as if
she had never really been away.

                       CHAPTER 23

All of the beings in New Republic gathered in the garden square of
Coriscant, waiting for the ceremony with anticipation. Shawn and
Stephanie were gathered in front of their family with smiles on their
faces. Before it had started a short figure had caught Shawn’s eye,
he walked away slowly, “Callen?” he asked. “What do you want?” A bitter
voice asked from behind the bush. “I just want to talk to you,” Shawn
replied. “I don’t feel like talking.” Shawn heaved a big sigh, when
Callina came from behind him. “I wouldn’t talk to him right now if I
were you,” she said cautiously. She gestured for him to come with her,
“Stay here, Callen.” Callen grumbled something under his breath, then sat
on the nearby stump. Shawn sat next to her on the bench right by the
crowd. “Is he going to be ok?” Callina sighed, then gave him an amused
look, “Shawn my brother hasn’t been all right since he was born.”

Shawn smiled, “But seriously, is he going to get over this?” “Not for
a while, he’s been through this anger faze since the Animea took our
parents. Even before that he was a bit touchy, now he’s in a gang.”
She shook her head sadly, “Maybe my Dad can help him. He told me that
Eric used to be in a gang, I can’t even imagine that now.” Shawn gave
her an amused look, “Callen will probably get the anger knocked right
out of him.” Callina laughed, “That would be a miracle!” Shawn shrugged
“One attempted miracle coming up!” he said as he headed for Luke.
“Shawn,” Callina called. He turned around quickly, “Thanks,” She
said smiling. Shawn blushed, “Sure, anytime.” Shawn joined his family
just as the ceremony began.

Eric and Gariel stepped out in front of the crowd and everyone became
silent. Gariel’s eyes became moist as memories of the past came to her;
memories of family, of the Alliance and New Republic. Eric’s eyes were

full of pride and happiness as his aunt came up to him with a medal.
He bowed slightly as she hung the medal around his neck.
Han gave Luke a lopsided grin, “ Feels like dejavu, huh kid?”
Luke chuckled, “It does,” he answered smiling.

Leia hung the medal on Gariel then turned to face the audience, and
they clapped loudly for them. Eric stepped off of the small stand and
into the crowd with his mother beside him. Han caught him in a big
hug, “How’s it feel to be more than an aide, kid?” Eric grinned, “The
best. Imagine, now I’ll be able to do something I’m actually qualified
for.” “What, you weren’t qualified for being bossed?” “The only reason
I endured this treatment was because of my training,” Eric laughed.
“And if it weren’t for that you’d end up socking him, right?” Han asked.
Eric nodded vigorously, “It was certainly tempting.” “He’s dead now,”
Jacen said sadly. Eric turned to see him, “He was the one who got sucked
into space?” “Yes, and now his children are completely alone,” Jaina
said tartly. Eric flushed, “I had no idea, where are they now?” “I
thought I saw them somewhere around here,” Jacen said looking around.
“There,” Jaina said pointed toward a bench. Eric looked at her
thoughtfully, then walked toward Luke and Gariel. Shawn was already
there talking to them, “…there has got to be some way to help Callen.”

“Shawn looks desperate, he must really be devoted to them “ Eric thought. He stepped
forward, “Dad, they don’t have a family any more.”  Luke’s face creased
with confusion, “The Admiral that got sucked into space was their Dad,
and they still don’t know where their mom is,” Shawn explained. Luke’s
expression turned grim, “Ask Callina if she and her brother can come
to Yavin Four with us.” Shawn’s eyes widened, “All right!” He ran up
to the bench and did just that. “He certainly has compassion for them,”
Eric noted. Luke nodded with a sly smile as he noticed his son’s blush
as Callina hugged him. “We will have to go soon, Eric. I can’t leave
the Academy very long. Will you be able to come?” Eric shook his head,
“Unfortunately I still have a lot of work to do, the Admirals are
still brain-washed, and the Animea are still a threat.” Luke nodded in
understanding. “What are you going to do about the twins and mom?” Eric
asked. “I’m not sure yet,” Luke admitted, “I’m sure they’ll become
close in time.” “Probably,” Eric replied.

                         CHAPTER 24

The next morning the Millenium Falcon prepared to take Luke, Gariel
and the Young Jedi back to the forest moon. Threepio walked slowly,
“Do be careful Master Han, the enemy may still be out there.” “We’ll
be fine goldenrod,” Han answered. “Were have you been?” Eric asked
the droid. “I have been shut off for quite some time. He had said that
I would be too annoying during the attack. It didn’t make any sense to
me, after all I just try to do my job. Sometimes I really don’t
understand Human behavior…” “Threepio, get inside,” Han said in an
annoyed voice. Eric grinned, “I think I could see why you shut him off.”

Han made a sarcastic gesture then finished the last touch up. “Chewie,
get ‘er ready for take off.” The young Jedi hurried into the ship after
they each gave Eric a quick hug. “See ya soon!” Stephanie called.

“Thanks for helping me out,” Shawn said as he lead Callen and Callina
inside the ship. “Your welcome,” Eric replied. He gave Gariel a big
hug before she left. “ I missed you,” she sighed. “I missed you too,
mom.” Gariel smiled brightly and kissed him on the cheek. As she slowly
followed Jacen, Eric could see the pride in her eyes. He waved and
watched her wave back and go up the ramp. He sighed heavily and wished
with all his heart that he was going with them. “Don’t be so sad, kid.
You know the New Republic; they’ll probably be called back before you’d
think it possible.” Eric laughed and said his goodbye to his Aunt and
Uncle. “See you in a second,” he called after them. Han smiled, “See
ya soon, kid.”
Luke came through the doors at a fast pace and handed
the bags to Jacen and Stephanie. As he turned toward him Eric snapped
back to reality. Luke embraced him happily, “I’m proud of you, Eric.”
Eric smiled and hugged him back. Luke went into the ship quickly.
Eric watched the old battered-looking ship until he couldn’t see it
anymore.

Through the corner of his eye he saw Wedge come and sit beside
him. “Quite an adventure, huh.” Eric smirked, “definitely,” he replied.
“It’s not over yet, though.” “No, I didn’t expect it would be.” Wedge
turned to him, obviously surprised, “Most of the new people would,”
he commented. “It doesn’t seem possible for an adventure to stop in
this galaxy,” Eric replied. “Anything can happen.” Wedge nodded, and
walked with him over to the Main Headquarters. The New Republic had
much to discuss.

                To be continued…
