Why focus on differences,
ask an old man I may.
He might say,
such things shouldn't be questioned...
day after day
To ask the same to a peer,
would make them shrug and walk away.
To ask such of parents
would give to long drowned out predictions
of society led astray.
To ask a friend
would result in predictions
and complaints of being wronged in such a way.
To ask such of a stranger
would result in a odd look as they walked away.
We're all people,
We're all unique.
So why is it,
that we can't work together and critique.
Why be so hostile?
Why be so cold?
Are we truly united,
or is that a dream of old?
Ask a philosopher,
and they might say,
there's too much distrust;
people led astray.
And yet I wonder, why does it have to be that way?
